Welcome to Learning GridThe Learning Grid has been created to meet the needs of students, teachers and industry by bringing together different programmes and competitions for young people. These activities are all linked to engineering, science, design, technology or mathematics. Several are included as part of the National Curriculum for those subjects.
  • The Learning Grid offers safe and effective learning opportunities for school pupils and students, giving them the chance to develop their practical scientific and technological skills.
  • It offers teachers and lecturers activities and learning materials that have been independently assessed to be safe, well-designed and linked with the curriculum at each Key Stage and on to Further and Higher Education.
  • For companies, the Learning Grid offers direct involvement in education and the assurance that activities have a long-term future. As well as the benefits for recruitment, the companies involved value the opportunities for development of their existing staff through working with young people in local schools and colleges.

The Learning Grid is promoted and funded by Motorsport Development UK, an industry body whose aims are to sustain and develop Britain’s world-leading motorsport industry. At a time when many of the most talented candidates are drawn away from industry and into professions, motorsport is an exciting and attractive way to encourage young people to consider engineering as a career.

So, the range of student motorsport competition and projects, as well as programmes for all ages from primary school up, is now brought together in the Learning Grid. Pupils can learn the fundamental principles of engineering, seeing how they apply in everyday life, and can even learn how to design, create, develop and race their own cars.
