Electronic and Software Engineers

When did you last change TV channels? Or heat your pizza up in the microwave? Electronic engineers not only design objects like TVs and microwaves, they also develop ideas like the iPod Nano and the MP3 player.

Electronic engineers work in a wide range of industries – they could be designing new satellites, computer displays or making dancing robots for Christmas. Without electronics engineers you could not be reading this!

Software engineers write the programs that run all of these circuits. They have to understand how to get the best out of the electronics and in the same way the electronics engineers need to know what the software needs to make it run. So these two groups have to talk to each other a lot and share ideas – it’s not about sitting in front of a screen all day.
