The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) is an international professional membership organization for people who have an interest in and relevant experience in chemical engineering. It is the only organization to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and also licensed to award the titles of Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Scientist (CSi) and Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) to suitably qualified members.
IChemE is the hub for chemical, biochemical and process engineering professionals worldwide. It is at the heart of the process community, promoting competence and a commitment to sustainable development, advancing the discipline for the benefit of society and supporting the professional development of members.
As well as promoting the advancement of chemical engineering science and practice within the profession, IChemE aims to increase the public recognition of chemical engineering, both in terms of what chemical and process engineers do and the benefits that their work brings to society. IChemE actively develops and raises standards in education with the accrediting of 60 higher education establishments internationally (over half outside the UK).
