Quality standard activity: Imagineering Clubs
The Imagineering Foundation was formed as an educational charity in 2001, aimed at raising the awareness and interest of young people in engineering and manufacturing.
The initiative is designed to introduce 8-16 year olds to the fascinating world of engineering and manufacturing through fun, hands-on personal experience. It targets the engineers of the future at a young age, develops and holds their interest and hopefully, encourages them to consider engineering as a future career.
It is designed to influence young people in a positive way to make informed choices about the subjects they study and the career path they ultimately choose while presenting a more positive and realistic view of modern manufacturing.
The Foundation has recognised from the outset that it is essential to engage and involve the companies and organisations, which are going to benefit most from the new engineers of the future.
Two key principles underpin Imagineering:
- to engage young people in hands-on, practical activities related to engineering but also to have fun.
- that engineers should involve themselves directly with Imagineering activities to convey their own enthusiasm and what it is to be an engineer.
